Online wine sales are becoming more and more popular and ordering has never been easier. Upon registration, you will be able to choose which packages to receive as well as the frequency. It depends entirely up to you whether you want to receive a case every month, quarterly or annually. Luxury Gift Baskets

Quick question: What is one thing which is often fogotten about when it comes to buying or creating luxury gift baskets?

The answer of course, is not anything which is included in the gift basket itself since products are often tested and tasted for months before being included, but the packaging itself.

The industry standard packaging which includes a soft wicker basket as well as plastic wrap. I always ask myself, what are the chances that type of packaging will hold up when shipped across the country, or even if it is put under a Christmas tree for a couple of weeks. The answer, in my opinion, is not likely.

For that reason, I do think packaging is very important. Finding a decent wooden box, which could be used to store anything from wine to greeting cards once the gift is opened, makes a ton of sense, especially if you can include some type of messaging on the box itself.

The statistical analytical minds at Nielsen have been analysing trends in the world of wine and noticing something very strange about American attitudes. Firstly, they note that the vast majority of wine-based conversations online – especially on twitter – concern French wines. This has been helped forward recently by the buzz around the 2010 Bordeaux Wines announced in July. But like the apparently lukewarm reaction to the strange prices being swung around by some opportunistic chateau, all this ‘buzz’ isn’t actually reflected in the sales.

In terms of import volume French wines are down nearly 2% on 2009-2010. Australia, Portugal and South Africa have also suffered, whilst Argentina, Germany and New Zealand have seen significant gains. But nobody is really discussing wines from these regions: France remains the ultimate producer of wine in the world, but if fewer people are drinking it, does this fact matter at all? French producers will have to work hard to recapture the lucrative US market in the next year.
